turning
I just stumbled upon this short film by Karni and Saul, it's the most strange and beautiful thing I've seen in ages!

On his sixth birthday Robert receives a visit from three beautiful broken old birds in his mother's sitting room.

tree of codes

New Jonathan Safran Foer book Tree Of Codes explores the sculptural and physical elements of a book; using die-cutting he has created a whole new narrative from the existing text Street of Crocodiles by Bruno Schulz. ...wow!

bears adore snickers
“Imagine, if you will, lying in the dark alone in a little tent, nothing but a few microns of trembling nylon between you and the chill night air, listening to a 400-pound bear moving around your campsite. Imagine its quiet grunts and mysterious snufflings, the clatter of upended cookware and sounds of moist gnawings, the pad of its feet and the heaviness of its breath, the singing brush of its haunch along your tent side. Imagine the hot flood of adrenaline, that unwelcome tingling in the back of your arms, at the sudden rough bump of its snout against the foot of your tent, the alarming wild wobble of your frail shell as it roots through your backpack that you left casually propped by the entrance—with, you suddenly recall, a Snickers in the pouch. Bears adore Snickers, you’ve heard.”

treehouse junglehouse
Following the tree house theme... I stumbled upon this radio series on bbc the other day. It's about a fellow who's a professional tree climber and tree house builder. This series follows his progress having been commissioned to build a treehouse in an African rainforest for a wildlife film crew who will be filming monkeys up there. Shame I just realised that the first episode has gone, but to fill you in: he finds the perfect tree, climbs it to suss it out, then gets attacked by a swarm of bees and gets stung on his face while having to climb down.. so he has to find another tree, obviously.
Its called James and the Giant Tree House

Surtshellir
So this evening Tessa and I flopped down on the sofas after a whizz round the house with henry hoover... and failed at doing any drawing so we curled up in blankets and put the Sigur Ros dvd on, to soothe our eyes and ears and souls. I forgot how much I love this marimba made out of slate. amazing.
