Via Lucem Continens

I've been doing some initial research, for what i'm naming my "GRAND" project, and i came across this project at STOUR VALLEY ARTs in Ashford, Kent. Via Lucem Continens is a piece they commissioned Lukasz Skapski around the turn of the millennium.

The resulting piece is an annual event in which the sun aligns with a tunnel created with yew trees as it sets on the longest day of the year. It looks at the forest as an example of the wonders of photosynthesis, as well as softly celebrating the ethereal quality of a midsummer's night.

Last night I put on my yellow dress and flounced off to the Royal Opera House with Oliver to see Rufus and Loudon Wainwright! What a treat :)

"I sit for two or three hours and then in 15 minutes I can do a painting, but that's part of it. You have to get ready and decide to jump up and do it; you build yourself up psychologically, and so painting has no time for brush. Brush is boring, you give it and all of a sudden it's dry, you have to go. Before you cut the thought, you know?"
